More About Rhonda Richmond
The Woman

Rhonda Richmond is an incredible individual that was born and raised in Denver, CO.  Rhonda is an author that has been writing for over 25 years.

Rhonda's books Thought's of the Broken Self-Soul (2006), Dare I Scream Asylum (2006) and Skin Shed (2006) are extensions of her first book, Journal By the Bedside (2004). This collection of works is definitely a tribute to Rhonda's ability to use poetry in multiple forms.

Released over the last 2 years:

December 15, 2008: The Waterfall Chronicles
November 31, 2008: You Didn't See Me Go
February 4, 2008: Bridging the Psychological Gap
October 30, 2007:  The Wailing Song: Memoir Journal, and Writing Guide

"Bridging the Psychological Gap" is the thesis that lead to the book "The Wailing Song".  These works merge the memoir, the journal and the writing guide for new and old journal writers. Rhonda candidly reveals the journals that she wrote during her abusive marriage and in doing so gives us all new revelation on how we can write ourselves through a tragedy. Be sure to check them out!

Rhonda has also been published by Harvard's Diversity and Distinction Magazine, The University of Denver's Weekender Magazine and PoetWorks Press.

All of Rhonda's poems are pulled from her life experience; they are raw, powerful, unique, heart wrenching and complicated dips into emotions most people refuse to talk about. Rhonda was raised by her grandmother (with many siblings and cousins-at times seeing up to 15 people living in her grandmothers home) in a small house in the inner city. Rhonda displayed her anger about not having her parents around through fighting until she met up with a teacher in the 4th grade who taught her that she had an aptitude for using poetry to speak about her emotions. Life did not become magically better, but Rhonda began using her poetry to speak about the pain of her relationship with her parents, rape, spousal abuse, religion, and much more.

A graduate of the University of Denver's B.A. in Communications Program, and a Masters degree in Literary Arts with an emphasis in Creative Writing, she is now pursuing a doctoral degree at Argosy University.

Currently, Rhonda resides in Colorado with her husband and their 5 children.

Rhonda has been privilleged to work with Mary Crow (former CSU professor and Poet Laureate of Colorado) on the Poetry in Motion® Project in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2005.
