Journal by the Bedside (2004)
Publisher: Publish America
ISBN: 1-4137-0957-5, 83 pages, 6 x 9

Description:
Rhonda Richmond was born in 1971 in Denver, CO. Because Rhonda’s father was bipolar and her mother was addicted to things other than life, Rhonda was raised by her grandmother (with many siblings and cousins—at times seeing up to 15 people living in her grandmother’s home) in a small house in the inner city. Rhonda displayed her anger about not having her parents around through fighting—until she met up with a teacher in the 4th grade who taught her that she had an aptitude for using poetry to speak about her emotions. Life did not become magically better, but Rhonda began using her poetry to speak about the pain of her relationship with her parents, rape, spousal abuse, religion, and much more. This is Rhonda’s poetic biography and personal victory.

ISBN: 1-4241-2612-6, 61 pages, 6 x 9

Description:
This collection of work is the second edition of Rhonda's personal thoughts. It is technically the marriage of her newly-found education with her spiritual beliefs. In the pages of this book Rhonda struggles through what happens when society determines our values  and creates unnatural definitions or duties that we are then required to live by. This book also deals with the pain of being heartbroken when expectations cannot or are not met.

Dare I Scream Asylum (2006)
Publisher: Lulu.com
ISBN: 978-1-4116-9942-7, 97 pages, 6x9

Description:
So what is racism? In America we tell our children that racism is a thing of the past; something that was a bad mark on our history. We promise them that when they grow up, as long as they accept others for who they are, then they, in turn, should be accepted. Unfortunately, acceptance and tolerance are the lie. Though laws have changed and Civil Rights have been applied (in some cases), hate crimes still exist, and people die by words every single day. Dare I Scream Asylum, is a book that speaks to the hurt and damage that words and hateful actions can bring. Featuring “In the Down Image of Me, Part 6 (originally Published by Harvard University’s Diversity and Distinction Journal), this book stabs at the ideology that words are flat and unaffecting.

The Wailing Song: Memoir, Journal and Writing Guide (2007)
Available only at Lulu.com
255 pages, 6x9 coil binding

Description:
Humanity enjoys the ability to hear, interact with, and tell their own or other’s stories. However, it is less common for the memoir and journal to be used in conjunction to one another. This book bridges the personal memoir with experimental writing. In The Wailing Song, Rhonda Richmond walks through a time period in her life when she used various journaling methods to work through her feelings about becoming a mother, living in an abusive situation and many other things. The Wailing Song is an adventure in journaling that everyone should embark on. The combination of memoir, journal, poetry, and writing guide all geared to lead a reader back to themselves, are all good reasons to get connected with this work.

Bridging the Psychological Gap: Using the Personal Memoir as a Method for Teaching Others to Journal/ Self-Help (2008)
Available for International Sale
108 pages, 9.6x6.7

Abstract:
Reading and writing have traditionally been used as methods of expression in circumstances in which interpersonal or verbal expression is not practical. Although journal writing and the memoir have both been used for the purpose of self-healing, they are not always used in combination with one another. With the intent of contributing to the awareness of personal growth and for the use of complementary healing through journal writing, this Creative Capstone has provided a personal growth process by combining the memoir with the journal, dream log, and poetry. Since this capstone will provide only one avenue of personal growth discovery, more research into the implications of this personal growth method will be required.
